The Fortune Teller (Completed) This is a 30 inches (76cm) high Harlequin made basically from limewood, covered with inlaid diamonds of different woods. This is a difficult and complex carving and will take several weeks to complete. (See the completed carving here)

1. The mail block of limewood is bandsawn, minus the arms and legs.
|
2. Beginning to rough out the shape

3. The body has been shaped and sanding has begun.

5. The body is finished and the head is being carved.

6. The arms have been made separately and are now
screwed in position temporarily

7. The lower legs have been made separately from sycamore and the walnut shoes fitted to them. They have now been dowelled and glued in place.

8. The first diamonds have been inlaid into the chest.

9. The arms have been removed for inlaying and the body and legs are completely covered in diamonds
|
10. The Arms are now attached permanently so that the diamonds can be inlaid to cover the joints

11. The top of the head has been cut away to enable the figure to be held in the vice for finishing off.
